North Liberty Community Library
Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
August 17, 2009, 7:00 p.m.
Vice President Melissa Murphy called the meeting to order at 7:00pm at the North Liberty City Council Chambers, 25 W. Cherry St.
Board members present were: Melissa Murphy, Peggy Waters, Cindy Diouf, John Henk, new member Margaret Logan and Library Director Dee Crowner. Shalome Tonelli was absent with prior notice.
It was suggested that the newest member, Margaret Logan introduce herself to the Board. The Board members all introduced themselves to Margaret.
Approval of Agenda:
Election of new officers was added to New Business.
Public Comment:
None.
Approval of Minutes:
A motion to approve the June minutes as written was made by Henk, seconded by Diouf and approved unanimously.
Reports:
Budget – Jenny Garner:
There was about $27 left at the end of the year.
Youth and Teen Services – Andrew Frisbie:
This year attendance was up at the Summer Reading Program in the 4th, 5th and 6th grades.
The carnival at the end was a lot of fun.
The regular programs will start with the Toddler Time from 10:00am – 11:00am on September 4th which is Bubbles and Chalk, then there will be the Lego program on September 10th from 2:30pm – 4:00pm.
Adult Services – Elaine Reitz:
More participants in the Summer Reading Program completed the program this year.
The Last Tuesday of the Month Club starts up again on September 29 at 7:00pm and they will be discussing any book. The 2nd Annual Wine Tasting and Auction will be on October 30th. The Waffle Breakfast and Craft Sale will be October 24th from 8:00am – noon.
The library is now on Facebook and WIKI.
Assistant Director – Jennie Garner:
Jean Parker did a cataloging class for the staff in-service training on August 6th.
Jennie is still working on getting the career station up and running.
Director – Dee Crowner:
Dee announced there was a $400 donation to the building fund.
Grace Community Church came on August 9th for their community service cleaning day and cleaned the library; like dust down tables and chairs and so on.
Starting on September 4th the library will be closing at 5:00 on Fridays so the library can remain open on Sundays.
Dee will be meeting with Ryan and David on the expansion this week on Thursday. The architect will be there too.
Friends
Friends met last week. They are getting the Footnotes database for us.
Policy Review:
Interlibrary Loan Policy – Waters moved and Logan seconded that the Interlibrary Loan Policy be approved as written and approved unanimously.
Old Business:
Expansion Committee – Dee just reiterated what she already mentioned in her report.
New Business:
Election of Officers – here are the new officers for 2009 – 2010.

Adjournment:
It was moved and seconded to adjourn and approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
