Teen Summer Reading Program
We had 50 teens sign up for the Teen Summer Reading Program this year, and 32 complete. 30 of those teens completed a reading log and all together read 180 books (at their reading level). The other 2 teens completed the task sheet which was equivalent to 6 books each.
A HUGE Thanks to all of the businesses who supported the teen program through a monetary donation or prize donations. We couldn’t do it without your support.
Those businesses include:
Iowa State Bank & Trust (now MidwestOne Bank)
Teen Advocate Group (North Liberty Community Library)
H&H Homebuilders
Croco Orthodontics
Scheels All Sport
Panchero’s Mexican Grill
Corridor Coffee Company
Cold Stone Creamery
I would also like to thank Fired Up of Iowa City for coming to do a pottery painting program with us, and Laura Bergus and Cheryle Caplinger from NLTV for doing a video production program with the teens as well.
We look forward to begging you all again next year
Melanie Stewart
We are a library, we are all about lists...
Here are links for fun stuff and informative resources we think you'll like. If you have a site you think should be added to one of these lists, please contact the webmaster.
- Books to Read - If you are a teen and you like to read, or if you hate reading and are waiting to find a book that truly inspires you, check out these titles!
- All in Fun - hilarious and/or enlightening links
- Health 101 - questions and answers relating to your body
- Homework Help - and links to local schools
- Pictures - cool photos from past NLCL teen events (coming soon!)
TAG - you're it!
The Teen Advocate Group is a teen volunteer corps whose goal is to bring teens into the library by getting teen materials and helping fund teen programs. TAG members aide other areas of the library's development and serve the community, too. But most of all, TAG is about fun!
Fun sounds good. How can I join?
Anyone who has completed sixth grade and is willing to attended monthly meetings and can commit 24 hours to volunteering each year is invited to join during September. Contact TAG advisor Melanie Stewart at the NLCL by phone (319-626-5701) or e-mail (melstewart@north-liberty.lib.ia.us).
