How do I get a library card?

You need a valid driver’s license and proof of address if your driver’s license does not have your current address. We will take your photo for identification purposes. You can also sign up for a library card on our home page by clicking the “New Patron Registration” button.  You will still need to come in to the library to show a photo ID, proof of address, take your picture, and get your library card.

Your first library card is free and there is a $2 replacement cost for lost cards.

Can I check my library account online?

Yes, simply click on the “catalog” link on our home page. Then click on the “My Account” tab in the toolbar across the top of the page. For the Patron ID, type in your library card number (found on the back of your library card, all 14 characters, NO space). Your password is your last name, lower case.

Do I qualify to use a meeting room?

Patrons and organizations that meet our Meeting Room Terms of Use can host their meeting, program, or training in one of our meeting rooms. Meeting rooms are available on a first come, first served basis to groups and organizations as specified in our Meeting Room Terms of Use. We have space that can accommodate from two to 64 guests.

Individuals, groups, or organizations may only have three reservations on our calendar at any given time. Please read our Meeting Room Terms of Use for our complete list of criteria.

Checkout limits and loan times?  

  • There are no limits on the amount of items that can be checked out at a time except for a 5 DVD limit.
  • Books (print and audio) and magazines have a three-week checkout.
  • Television series DVDs have a two-week checkout.
  • DVDs and cake pans have a one-week checkout.
  • All items can be renewed if there are no pending holds.

Digital Johnson County:

eBooks & eAudiobooks are available for checkout via Digital Johnson County. You must be a resident of North Liberty or Rural Johnson County to access this service. If you are not a resident of North Liberty or Rural Johnson County check with the library in your town for these services.

Once you have found a title that you wish to checkout follow instructions for checkout/downloading. You will need your patron number (found on the back of your library card, all 14 characters, NO space) to complete the checkout.

Fines & Lost or Damaged Materials:

  • Fines can be paid with cash, check, or credit card (GovPayNet charges a $1.50 convenience fee for the credit card service).
  • You can also pay your entire overdue fine in non-perishable food items, one canned item will take one dollar off your fines. All food for fines goes to the North Liberty Community Pantry.
  • If you have lost or damaged materials contact the library to discuss replacement options.

Notices:

All patron notifications are sent via email or text. Emails are sent as a three day pre-notification and an overdue notice once the material/s are overdue. If you opted for text notifications a text will only be sent once material/s become overdue, no pre-notification.

Where are you located?

We are located in the North Liberty Community Center, along with the Rec Center,  Aquatic Center, and North Liberty Communications.

What is the Iowa DOT driver’s license Kiosk?

You can now renew/replace your Iowa driver’s license or identification (ID) card at the North Liberty Community Library via the Iowa DOT kiosk.
